Leveraging the Raman spectroscopy, the microscope allows to probe surfaces with a resolution of less than 1 micrometer. It is exploited for the characterization of pigments and dyes on ceramic, stone and glazed materials, as well as the identification of degradation products applied on painted surfaces, glass, ceramics, metals, stone.
