Caravaggio: track the dark light

Is there a narrative path in the works of Caravaggio that the painter has consciously built? The “forming light ” which Cesare Brandi refers to in order to explain how the bodies and things in the works of the artist are revealed to our eyes, has a role in the “discovery” of his paintings, from both the aesthetic and the meaning perspective?
